Prizes and Awards

AGM Prizes

Three prizes will be awarded during the meeting for the best abstract presentations and each award is presented for a value of €1,000 each along with a letter of recognition and certificate.

The Annual Jean Rey Prize
For the best abstract presentation on Nutrition

The Annual John Harries Prize

For the best abstract presentation on Gastroenterology

The Annual Alex Mowat Prize

For the best abstract presentation on Hepatology

 

Young Investigator Awards

The purpose of the Young Investigator Award is to support expenses of up to €1,000 for Young Investigators who have had an abstract accepted for presentation at the ESPGHAN Annual Meetings.

Please note that the following rules must be met by all candidates:

  1. Must be the first author of the work being presented (may be checked against the printed programme).
  2. To be working in Paediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition for less than 10 years.
  3. For reimbursement, the Treasurer needs to receive the original air or train ticket, the original hotel bill and a copy of the receipt of the registration fee.
  4. Candidates may be ESPGHAN members or non-members.

Your application will be processed and then considered by the treasurer of ESPGHAN. You will then be notified by e-mail after the deadline if your application has been successful or unsuccessful.

If your application is successful you will be sent an e-mail confirmation and an expense form for you to complete after the Annual Meeting and return along with your receipts.

Deadline for Applications

The deadline for the applications is: Wednesday 18 February 2015

You will be notified if your application has been successful during the week commencing 9 March 2015. Successful applicants will then need to register by 20 March 2015 in order to guarantee their registration at the discounted rate.

 AHP Award

The purpose of the award is to support expenses of up to €1,000 for Allied Health Professionals who have had an abstract accepted for presentation at the Annual ESPGHAN Meeting.

Please note that the following rules must be met by all candidates:

  1. Must be the first author of the work being presented (may be checked against the printed programme).
  2. To be working in Paediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition for less than 10 years.

Charlotte Anderson Travel Award

The Travel Award is intended to support the expenses of up to €3,000 Euros of a Young Investigator who wishes to travel and visit another unit either for the purposes of learning a new technique, carrying out a short project or observing a different system at work. 

The Charlotte Anderson Travel Award will be presented during the Annual Meeting.

Paediatric Nutrition Award

The overall intention of the award is to stimulate and broaden the interest in nutrition research within the ESPGHAN membership and among young investigators. The award has a cash value of €30,000. It will be given to a young investigator to acknowledge a major contribution in a paediatric nutrition related research project. This contribution has to be demonstrated by a full publication in an internationally recognized scientific journal or by a manuscript accepted for publication.

This prestigious Paediatric Nutrition Award will be presented during the Annual Meeting.

Distinguished Service Award

To recognize a ESPGHAN Member who has given a major contribution to the development of paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology or nutrition. It can be recognized as a whole life accomplishment, or celebrate a major recent achievement. The field may be basic science or clinical work.

The recipient will be honoured by the President during the AGM at the Annual Meeting with a medal, certificate, and recognition in JPGN.
